The south of Playa del Ingles are the Dune of Maspalomas. 4 square kilometre expanse of dunes. This is a national park with a salt-water lake and palm grove, which can be explored on foot or by camel. The dunes provide habitat for lizards, rabbits. The lagoon provides birds with a stop en route between Europe and Africa. The Dunes of Maspalomas is very popular for naturists also.
